Misty Taylor Chaves

Misty Taylor Chaves has been a civil trial
attorney for over 17 years and is a partner of King & Chaves, LLC. Ms.
Chaves is an experienced litigator who handles complex insurance defense
suits with an emphasis on cases involving wrongful death, premises
liability, automobile and product liability defenses.
Ms. Chaves graduated with high honors, earning her Juris Doctorate
degree from the Levin College of Law at the University of Florida. She
also received her Bachelor’s degree, with honors, from the University of
Florida. In law school, she was a recipient of the Atwood Dunwoody
Scholarship. She earned Book Awards in Torts and Civil Procedure and was
Editor-in-Chief of the Florida Journal of International Law. She is a
member of the honorary society, The Order of the Coif and she currently
holds a position on the Executive Board for the University of Florida’s
Law Alumni Counsel.
Ms. Chaves is a member of the Florida Bar, as well as the Palm Beach
County Bar Association. In 2011 she was admitted to practice before the
United State Supreme Court. She is also admitted to practice before the
United States District Court of the Southern and Middle Districts of
Florida. She is an active member of the American Inns of Court and she
participates in the pro bono attorney ad litem and guardian ad litem
programs of Palm Beach County, where she advocates on behalf of children
within the legal system.
She lectures on a variety of legal topics to insurance companies as well
as civil and community organizations.
