Matthew D. Horton
Mr. Horton earned his Juris Doctorate from the Levin College of Law at
the University of Florida in 2004. While at the College of Law he earned
the prestigious Book Award in Trial Practice and also earned an
individual Litigation Award at the National Trial Advocacy Competition
as a member of the University of Florida’s Trial Team.
Mr. Horton began his legal career as an Assistant Public Defender in
West Palm Beach, Florida. As a Public Defender he tried numerous
jury trials, including serious felony cases and was Chief of a Felony
Division. Prior to joining King and Chaves, LLC , Matthew had his own
private practice focusing on personal injury litigation, as well as
criminal defense and family law matters. Mr. Horton’s background and
experience makes him a particularly valuable asset in litigation
investigation and discovery and trial presentations.
Mr. Horton is admitted to practice in the Florida State Courts and
before the United States District Court of the Southern District. He is
a member of the Palm Beach County Bar Association and the F. Malcolm
Cunningham Bar Association.
Mr. Horton proudly served in the United States Army and was honorably
discharged in 1996. He was awarded the Army Achievement Medal for
Meritorious Service by the Department of Defense and is a member and
volunteer of the Disabled American Veterans.
