Board Certified Civil Trial Attorney
David V. King was born and raised in
south Florida and has been a civil trial lawyer for over 25 years. Mr. King is a Board
Certified Civil Trial Attorney as recognized by the Florida Bar Board of Legal
Specialization and Education. Board certification recognizes an
attorney's special knowledge, skill and proficiency in the area of his
specialty, as well as for his professionalism and ethics. He has also been
recognized as one of the “Legal Elite” in Florida Trend Magazine as well
as in “Florida’s Super Lawyers”. He is a partner in the law firm of King &
Chaves, LLC with offices in Broward and Palm Beach Counties.
Mr. King has tried numerous cases throughout the state of Florida in
both the state and federal courts in the area of civil litigation involving
professional malpractice matters, including matters where he has represented
physicians and hospitals, architects, engineers and attorneys and other
professionals; he has also represented numerous individuals and corporations in automobile
negligence, premise liability, wrongful death, manufacture defects,
employment discrimination and patent and maritime lawsuits. In addition to handling
cases at the trial court level he has presented and argued cases before the
Florida District Court of Appeals as well as the Federal Court of Appeals for the 11th
Circuit.
Mr. King graduated with honors from Catawba College in North Carolina
where he obtained three majors in Philosophy, Religion and Economics. He
graduated from Emory University School of Law where he served as one of
the
Editors on the Emory Law School Bankruptcy Journal. While at Emory he
also worked as an intern with the United States Attorney’s Office and
obtained his State of Georgia Bar license.
As an AV rated lawyer, Mr. King has lectured on the topics of
personal injury, wrongful death and other related insurance defense
subjects.
He has completed the intensive National Institute of Trial Advocacy
(NITA)
program. He is a member of the Florida Bar, Federal District Court for
the Southern and Middle Districts, United States Court of Appeals for the
11th Circuit and the United States Supreme Court. He is locally a member of the Palm
Beach and Broward County Bar Associations, as well as the Florida
Defense Lawyers Association (where he previously served as the co-chairman of
the Professional Liability Committee).
