David V. King

Born and raised in south Florida, Mr. King has been a civil trial lawyer for over 35 years. He is a founding partner in the law firm of King & Chaves, and presently maintains offices in Broward and Palm Beach counties.

Board Certified in Civil Trial law, Mr. King is recognized by the Florida Bar Board of Legal Specialization and Education for his specialized knowledge, skill and proficiency in his practice area, as well as his professionalism and ethics. 

He has also been named as one of the “Legal Elite” in Florida Trend Magazine, and in “Florida’s Super Lawyers.” 

Mr. King has tried numerous cases of nearly every kind throughout the state of Florida. In both state and federal courts, he has represented numerous individuals and corporations in civil litigation cases involving automobile negligence, premise liability, wrongful death, manufacturing defects, and employment discrimination, as well as cases of professional malpractice involving physicians and hospitals, architects, engineers, attorneys and their firms.  

In addition to handling cases at the trial court level, he has presented and argued cases before the Florida District Courts of Appeal and the Federal Court of Appeal for the 11th Circuit and is a member of the United States Supreme Court. 

Mr. King attended Catawba College in North Carolina where he earned a bachelor's degree with honors, graduating with three majors in Philosophy, Religion and Economics. He continued his studies with Emory University School of Law where he served as one of the Editors on the Emory Law School Bankruptcy Journal. While at Emory, he also worked as an intern with the United States Attorney’s Office, completed the prestigious and rigorous NITA (National Institute of Trial Advocacy) Program and obtained his State of Georgia Bar license.

As an AV-Preeminent rated lawyer, Mr. King has lectured on the topics of personal injury, wrongful death and other related insurance defense subjects.  

He is presently a member of the Florida Bar, Federal District Court for the Southern and Middle Districts, United States Court of Appeal for the 11th Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court. 

Locally, he is a member of the County Bar Associations for Palm Beach and Broward, and previously served as the co-chairman of the Professional Liability Committee for the Florida Defense Lawyers Association.
