Associate
Eric Taylor is an attorney who joined King & Chaves in June, 2021. Eric graduated from the University of Virginia in 1992 where he earned his B.A. and received Intermediate Honors. After graduating from the University of Virginia, he attended Harvard Law School where he earned his J.D. in 1995.
Post-law school, he worked for large and midsize civil law firms where he primarily practiced commercial litigation. As a commercial litigation associate, he has litigated complex matters in both state and federal courts in a variety of practice areas including products liability, restrictive covenants, copyright infringement, director and officer liability, construction, insurance coverage, truth-in-lending and franchise disputes, among others.
After practicing commercial litigation as an associate, he joined the Office of the Public Defender in Atlanta, Georgia where he primarily represented indigent felons convicted of committing serious offenses in appeals. During his tenure a senior public defender he was successful in getting several clients’ convictions reversed as well as numerous clients’ sentences reduced.
Throughout his legal career he has continued to do pro bono work for the less fortunate. One such instance was successfully representing an indigent immigrant from Ukraine in the U.S.D.C., N.D. of Illinois, in a political asylum trial.
Eric is licensed to practice law in Florida (2020), Illinois (1995, currently inactive) and Georgia (1998, currently inactive). He is also admitted to practice in the United States District Court, Southern District of Florida and the United States District Court, Middle District of Florida.
